galleries, buildings with decorated ceilings - Churches
- Cinemas, theatres and conferences halls - Hotels -
Schools - Public buildings - Garages - Industrial building
and factories - Warehouses and storerooms - Supermarkets
- Hospitals.
BOOMERANG INFRARED FIRE DETECTION SYSTEM manufactured
to the following characteristics and obtaining or
bettering indicated compliance requirements: Operating
distance between the opposed units up to 150
m with maximum permitted area of coverage according
to EN 54-14 of up to 1,600 square metres per system
– Detection units that can be
directed at will to any working angle, both vertically
and horizontally – Complete stability

over a wide range of levels – Automatic
and instant restoration of working if the infrared beam
is interrupted – High rejection
levels of optical and electromagnetic interference –
Extreme installation and calibration
simplicity – Notably reduced
installation and maintenance costs. |
THE
MODEL BOOMERANG Scomply with and exceed the European
product standard EN 54-12 and have obtained
certification from the most distinguished European testing
institutions. The models are built to an IP 44 rating. Available
4 models: two for “smoke” (Boomerang
S) and two for “fire and smoke (Boomerang SF):
| BOOMERANG S |
mod 5P70 (distance up 10 m to 70 m) |
| mod 6P150 (distance up 71 m to 150 m) |
| BOOMERANG SF |
mod 5P70 (distance up 10 m to 70 m) |
| mod 6P150 (distance up 71 m to 150 m) |
In both
configurations (S–SF), the maximum working width is
the 15m provided for by EN 54-14 and UNI 9795.
THE BOOMERANG S MODEL (for Smoke detection only) consists
of three units:
The TRX transmitter unit – the reflector RFX
– and the interface
INT8BA. The interface unit is necessary for providing
the control unit with electrical fault and open or closed
contact fire information. The electronic optical device is
housed in a single mechanical casing and emits two conical
beams of infrared light at different angles. These cross the
protected space and strike the reflection device. The infrared
beams hit the reflection device with equal intensity and are
bounced back across the protected area to precisely strike
the optical receiver device. If any event involving smoke
or fire takes place in the protected space and develops in
ways and frequencies equivalent to those found in natural
fires, and if the complex of ensuing events
progress over a determined period, the detector will emit
an alarm signal. For an alarm to be given these symptoms must
interfere with the infrared beams. This is possible even if
the start of a fire occurs at a considerable distance (up
to 7.5 metres each side) from the vertical of the infrared
beam. The working system exploits the configuration of the
natural roof type to cause the symptoms of an incipient fire
to converge to where the fire detector is installed.
The Transmitter unit TRX has a practically
instantaneous sensitivity checking system through special
circuitry which makes any additional long term sensitivity
checks quite unnecessary. LEDs can be seen through a transparent
section of the front main filter window. These indicate:
“Green”
Power supply on, “Red”
Smoke alarm, “Red”
Fire (model SF only), “Yellow”
Operating fault
The system has an automatic exclusion system to deal with
a situation where an object passes between the TRX
and the reflector RFX units. When the obstacle
is removed, reset is automatic and normal function recommences
immediately.
The model can handle different smoke sensitivity levels over
a very wide range so that the alarm thresholds can be selected
as required for the context. Smoke sensitivity adjustment
for the S model can be managed by the specific
control instruments UTA or ADM.
The use of this detector in civil or industrial environments
that may be subject to all kinds of disturbances, requires
no special knowledge or skills of the operator, but strict
adherence to the instructions contained in every individual
packaging is required.
THE BOOMERANG S F MODEL (Fire and Smoke detection)
also consists of three units:
the TRX - the reflector RFX – interface INT8BA.
The working principle, size and quality of the devices are
similar to those of the S model. This model's essential difference
is that it processes smoke and/or fire data analysed
by the Receiver unit. The processing of the data consists
in translating each aspect of incipient smoke and fire identified
by the receiver through electrical signals, each of which
corresponding to calculations regarding a single "symptom"
of a fire from smoke and/or from fire.
This examination of the data is not an abstract or theoretical
event but is associated with the specific working conditions
of the protected area in which the detector is installed,
even though this may be an area subject to many disturbances
of various kinds. This model's algorithm makes highly subtle
and complex calculations possible that enable the detector
to precisely identify data that reflect the presence of fire
or smoke, on the basis of probabilities and proven scientific
parameters. Calibration of the BOOMERANG SF involves the use
of a portable UTA or ADM unit.
The use of the BOOMERANG SF detector in civil or industrial
environments that may be subject to all kinds of disturbances,
requires no special knowledge or skills of the operator, except
for the ability to select a suitable distance between the
units' installation and the top of the ceiling.
The UTA98 instrument connected to the TRX unit allows the
operator to measure directly the intensity, morphology and
duration of any disturbances present in the environment to
be protected. With the ADM adapter, a similar reading can
be taken of corresponding electrical values (mV), using a
simple additional tester. An understanding of these values
means that properly reasoned threshold settings for Fire and
Smoke can be established according to the possibilities provided
by the protected environment.
The size and shape are the same as for the BOOMERANG
S and BOOMERANG SF models. The two models differ in the colouration
of the housings’ anodising: For the BOOMERANG S, Black.
For the BOOMERANG SF, Silver.

INTERFACE
INT8BA 24 Volt DC
The interface unit is necessary if the control unit accepts
closed or open
input contacts for faults and fires. It must be powered by
24V DC, the same
applying to BOOMERANG S and SF. Delivery configuration can
be with or
without an IP 55 rated plastic housing.
